Are your products Vegan?

Yes. Although please note, our products are produced on a site that handles eggs and milk so there is a small risk of dairy traces within our products.

Are your products nut-free?

No, all our products either contain nuts (Almond Butter Flapjack, Chocolate Tiffin, Chocolate Orange Tiffin) or are produced on a site that handles nuts (Chocolate Brownie).

Do your products contain palm oil?

No, none of our products contain palm oil.

Is your packaging recyclable?

No, our bars are wrapped in a plastic that is not currently recyclable. We are hoping to move to a recyclable film by the end of 2022. We have not done this already for the following reasons:

  • A number of packaging films marketed as recyclable actually require specific recycling which is not available to many UK households (i.e. you would have to drive to a recycling centre rather than put the wrapper in your green bin). We want to make sure our move to a more sustainable film would actually help environmentally rather than simply allow us to say our wrappers are "recyclable", and we are looking into this currently.
  • By nature most recyclable films are less durable than standard plastic films, this means that the shelf life of the products contained within is often reduced. As Unrefined Bars use no additives/artificial preservatives and are a small start up (therefore with sometimes unpredictable sales), moving to such films may mean more of our products end up not being eaten before their best before date, therefore contributing to food waste. We have to be mindful of the net impact of moving to such films in order to make sure our move is positive for the environment overall, and this is something we are looking into currently.

The outer boxes our products come in are cardboard and fully recyclable.
